It is NOT currently possible to play Homeworld Cataclysm on the Macintosh (unless you want to emulate a PC at any rate).
Why not?
Because the source code (the actual handwritten component of software development) has not been released or licenced to enable a port to happen. Homeworld's source code was released into the public domain in 2003 and some volunteers ported it to (made it work on) the Macintosh. Homeworld 2 was licenced by Aspyr Media.
Homeworld Cataclysm is rather old and is highly unlikely to be licenced now, so the only realistic way a port might happen is for the source code to be released into the public domain like Homeworld's was. However, Homeworld Cataclysm was done by Barking Dog Studios, not Relic (the original Homeworld developers), so there is no guarantee that a release of the source code would happen in the future anyway.
A shame to be missing the middle episode of the Homeworld series but there you go. |

probably a silly question but... has anyone asked relic (through their forums) if they could somehow get hold of the cataclysm source from Barking Dog? it really would be a shame to not have :-\ _________________ nothing here but us text! |
